Resourceful: Use What You've Got Owl Medicine Farm TV Introspective Treasure Map $700
As a printmaker and textile artist, Ayn incorporates imagery from the natural world, along with dream-inspired abstract compositions. She uses drawing, layering, patterns, and texture to achieve visual storytelling. Formally trained as a professional fine art printer, she began working with textiles in 2015. She now focuses on merging processes and techniques from her printmaking background with the fabrics and threads of the textile medium, the results of which she calls "textile paintings". Her work has been shown in numerous regional and national juried exhibits and gallery shows throughout the U.S. She earned a BFA in Graphic Design and an MFA in Printmaking and Sculpture from Colorado State Univerity. Today she lives and maintains her studio practice in Fort Collins, CO.
Eco-Dyed Fabrics and Stitching
16" x 20" (framed)
This intuitive abstract landscape was influenced by the foothills where Ayn Hanna lives, combining natural-plant-dyed silk, cotton, and linen fabrics (some of them repurposed from thrift-store-found fabric), along with machine and hand stitching to complete the image.
Resourceful: Use What You’ve Got―Full of “Leave No Trace” attitude, reminding us to be kind to our planet, remembering to reuse, recycle, and repurpose wherever we can. Owl Medicine―This badge was inspired by the great horned owls in the Austrian Pines near Ayn’s home. “Owl Medicine” reinforces that we should always trust our heart to find the right path. Farm TV―Featuring an outlook any Scout can appreciate, this design honors Ayn’s childhood trips to a friend’s country place, where they would sit around a bonfire, looking at the stars… “Farm TV”. Introspective―This piece captures the gaze Ayn shared with a lost young black bear that wandered into her yard and later died from the county’s efforts to capture her. Regaining the gift of introspection through that chance meeting, Ayn was able to refocus on what’s most important. Treasure Map―Born from a love of the Wild West and stories of hidden gold, this badge celebrates Ayn as a collector, finding thrift- and antique-store treasures to repurpose for her art.
